Tag, you're it
OK, so Delara tagged me. Rules: I have to list seven random things about myself and tag seven more people.
1. I like people who can sight read for the piano. There is almost nothing better than being able to hand someone a piece of sheet music and hear it played. It's even better if the person playing doesn't judge you for not having pipes.
2. Long nails on hands or feet and on men or women make me queasy. This may offend people who are attached to their nails, but If a person doesn't tend to them I immediately think mental illness.
3. Coffee never worked for me as a study aid, although in small amounts it helps me do a lot of housework. What helps me wake up in the morning is is a full night's sleep, a shower/bath and shampoo.
4. I am thankful for running water.
5. Life has not been the same since the Piano Puzzler moved with Performance Today to American Public Media. Our station could not afford to keep the show when it left NPR. I know, I can listen to it online, but then I feel tied to my computer. It was so much fun when it came on in the car.
6. Right before the last bite of food, I get full and can't touch the rest.
7. I like to hear good musicians practice together, but please keep me away from the speaker at a performance, or hand me some earplugs.
Shokufeh, Naseem, Glenn, Meisa, you are it. These folks don't know who I am, so would someone please let them know that they have been tagged?
Hello
Looks good! Very useful, good stuff. Good resources here. Thanks much!
G'night

I think it's great you started soccer at 30 and are still doing it. Thanks for stopping by, Glenn.

So, I got tagged after all...
Seven Random Things About Me
1.I am the first person the vast majority of my “I knew them before they came out” friends came out to. I suspect my advocacy (and pre-Declaration activism) for equal rights across gender and sexuality identification lines had the most to do with it.
2.The movie Radio Flyer (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105211/) makes me cry every time I see it. This is odd mostly because it simply reminds me of the last movie I saw with my mother before she died my freshman year of college. That movie was The Boy Who Could Fly (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090768/). They are completely unrelated, except in my mind.
3.My favorite music group in the whole world is Depeche Mode (http://www.depechemode.com), but I have never seen them in concert, although I own 57 CDs (albums, singles, compilations, and tributes).
4.I play soccer. I started at age 30, and now, eight years later, I have been coach/captain of my own adult recreation league team, served as referee for at least one game a week, and have become a rather proficient defender (usually sweeper). But I have never scored in a league game.
5.I visit the Y every workday, since it is located right next to the building (http://outside.in/places/center-durham) in which I work. Twelve weeks ago I could barely chest press the 20 pound dumbbells. Today I pressed the 55 pound dumbbells. By Naw Ruz I intend to be pressing the 75 pound dumbbells (my body weight).
6.I ride a 1988 Honda Shadow VT800. Two weeks ago I rebuilt the carburetor with help from a co-worker. Getting it back on the bike was harder than the rebuild.
7.I have never seen, nor have I any interest in seeing, Gone with the Wind.

Mojan, thank you for taking the time to stop by and spread some happiness! Your kindness brightened my morning. Thank you also for your great blog; your artistic eye makes it truly uplifting. But most of all, congratulations to you and your husband on your blessed baby. Love and prayers from the Pacific.

Sarah! This is totally unrelated to this entry (although I really enjoyed reading it, by the way) -- I just want you to know how much I appreciate the comment you left on my blog. I am so touched by the priceless pieces of advice that other mothers are offering to me. You don't know how helpful it is! So thank you, thank you, thank you. With love from Israel.

I heartily concur with numbers one (the best!), two (ew!), four (yes!), and seven (loud music hurts!). :-)
